I collect images and brief descriptions of design artifacts I like, for any reason whatsoever, here. Some of these things I think are clever, some of these things just tickle my aesthetic sense in some way, but all are things I like enough to save here.

I've come to really appreciate and seek out compact designs lately. The Sound Burger struck me as very clever when I first saw it. I've learned since then that this design isn't exactly new, nor is this form factor exclusive to the Sound Burger; however, the Sound Burger (or Master Disc, as it was called in North America upon its release there in 1983) does seem to be the best-known and best-loved of them. It does have a page in the "Failure Museum" due to its impracticality as a portable music player, which is how it was originally marketed. I think it's better considered a compact player, for space-constrained folks who want to play vinyl without having a section of their living space permanently dedicated to that activity.

A very slightly greenish blue, inspired by the waters of Bondi Beach in Australia. My experience of this color is inextricable from the context of the translucent plastic of the iMac G3, which is likewise inextricable from the computer labs of my childhood. Despite never owning an iMac of any flavor, this is a deeply nostalgic color for me.
